Class Films Premiering at the 2012 Hamptons International Film Festival

2010 class film The Discoverers had its world premiere this weekend at The Hamptons International Film Festival. A bittersweet comedy about a dysfunctional family forced on a Lewis and Clark historical reenactment trek, the film was directed by Justin Schwartz and stars Griffin Dunne, Madeleine Martin and Cara Buono. Also premiering at HIFF is Jyllian Gunther's documentary The New Public, which was a 2011 TEC class film and was edited by Penelope Falk (Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work). Class Film Picked up by Zeitgeist

Gregory Crewdson: Brief Encounters, a fall 2010 TEC class film has been picked up by Zeitgeist films and will open at Film Forum on October 31st before a nationwide release. Directed by Ben Shapiro, the film follows Gregory Crewdson, a prolific photographer who stages elaborate, large scale staged photographs of small-town American life. TEC Class Projects, Alums and Instructors Nominated for Emmys

"6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park," edited by TEC Alum and Instructor Chad Beck, and TEC Instructor Bret Granato has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Non-Fiction Special. Dimon Hunter, also a TEC alum, served as assistant editor on the film.

Class film A Matter of Taste: Serving Up Paul Liebrant, edited by TEC alum Amy Foote, was nominated for Outstanding Arts & Culture Programming. The film was produced by Edit Center founder Alan Oxman, Edit Center alum Rachel Mills and co-produced by Amy Foote.

Nominated for Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Editing are TEC Alums and Instructors Chad Beck, Adam Bolt, Chris Branca and Sarah Devorkin for their work on Page One: Inside the New York Times. The film, which was produced by Edit Center founder Alan Oxman, was also nominated for Outstanding Informational Programming.

Class Film to be Released on DVD

Class film A Matter of Taste will be released on DVD on June 19th by First Run Features. Edited by TEC alum Amy Foote, the film follows Paul Liebrant over a decade and reveals his creative process in the kitchen as well as the extremely hard work, long hours, and dedication it takes to be a successful chef in New York City. A Matter of Taste had its world premiere in competition at 2011's South by Southwest Film Festival, appeared on HBO, and earlier this year received a James Beard Award for Best Special/Documentary. Class Films Receive James Beard Award and Honor from Emmys

A Matter of Taste: Serving Up Paul Liebrant, which was a 2009 Edit Center class film was awarded a 2012 James Beard Foundation Broadcast Media Award for Best Special/Documentary. Directed by Sally Rowe, the film was edited by TEC alum Amy Foote and was produced by Edit Center founder and instructor Alan Oxman and TEC alum Rachel Mills. Also receiving accolades is 2010 class film Hot Coffee. Edited by TEC alum Cindy Lee (No End In Sight, Una Noche), the film received an Academy of Television Arts and Science TV Cares Award. The Edit Center at Tribeca

This year's Tribeca Film Festival will showcase work from class projects, Edit Center alums and instructors. Nancy Please, a 2011 class film which was edited by TEC alum Ron Dulin, will have its premiere in the World Narrative Competition on Saturday, April 21st. Also premiering on April 20th is 2011 class film Fairhaven. Una Noche, edited by TEC alum Cindy Lee will have its North American Premiere on Thursday April 19th. The Girl, edited by TEC alum Stephanie Ahn and TEC instructor Malcolm Jamieson will have its premiere on Friday April 20th. And Keep the Lights On, edited by TEC instructor Affonso Gonçalves--which had its premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival--will have its New York premiere on Wednesday April 25th.

The Edit Center also congratulates TEC Alum Sandy Patch whose short documentary The Last Ice Merchant will premiere on Sunday April 22nd.

Class Project Released on DVD

Former class documentary project Hot Coffee will be available on DVD on November 1, 2011. The film had its premiere at Sundance and was picked up by HBO. Edit Center alum Cindy Lee (No End In Sight) edited the film and was assisted by Rebecca Saladoff, also an alum. TEC instructor and founder Alan Oxman produced. Class Project Released in Theaters in NYC and LA

Former class project Dog Sweat will be released in theaters in New York City on November 11, 2011 and in Los Angeles on November 18, 2011. The film was edited by TEC alum/instructor Mollie Goldstein, who was assisted by alums Sophie Corra, Richard Migliorisi and Simon Wheeldon. Of the film, The Hollywood Reporter writes, "With well-known Iranian filmmakers being jailed, especially following the highly protested presidential elections, and others fleeing the countries, the courage shown by Keshavarz and his cast and crew speaks for itself." Class Project Premieres on Showtime

The project of the July 2009 6-week class Cold Weather will premiere on Showtime on Friday, October 14. Directed by Aaron Katz, the film had its premiere at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival and was released in theaters by IFC Films in February "Cold Weather," writes Roger Ebert, "is good in so many ways, I despair of doing them justice...Aaron Katz's direction is just about flawless." Class Project Released on DVD by Fox Searchlight

The project of the May 2010 6-week class, The Art of Getting By (formerly titled Homework), will be available for purchase on DVD and Blu-ray November 29th. The film stars Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland) and Emma Roberts (Scream 4), was edited by TEC alum/instructor Mollie Goldstein who was assisted by alum Sophie Corra.
