Page One Released on DVD
Page One: Inside the New York Times is available on DVD starting today. TEC alumni Chris Branca, Chad Beck and Sarah Devorkin edited the film. Instructor Alan Oxman produced. Page One had its premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and was then distributed by Magnolia Pictures. The New York Daily News writes, "This terrific tale of an establishment in transition ultimately plays like All the President's Men, with the intrigue coming from inside the building. Class Project Released on DVD
Former class documentary project Hot Coffee will be available on DVD on November 1, 2011. The film had its premiere at Sundance and was picked up by HBO. Edit Center alum Cindy Lee (No End In Sight) edited the film and was assisted by Rebecca Saladoff, also an alum. TEC instructor and founder Alan Oxman produced. Class Project Released in Theaters in NYC and LA
Former class project Dog Sweat will be released in theaters in New York City on November 11, 2011 and in Los Angeles on November 18, 2011. The film was edited by TEC alum/instructor Mollie Goldstein, who was assisted by alums Sophie Corra, Richard Migliorisi and Simon Wheeldon. Of the film, The Hollywood Reporter writes, "With well-known Iranian filmmakers being jailed, especially following the highly protested presidential elections, and others fleeing the countries, the courage shown by Keshavarz and his cast and crew speaks for itself." Class Project Premieres on Showtime
The project of the July 2009 6-week class Cold Weather will premiere on Showtime on Friday, October 14. Directed by Aaron Katz, the film had its premiere at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival and was released in theaters by IFC Films in February "Cold Weather," writes Roger Ebert, "is good in so many ways, I despair of doing them justice...Aaron Katz's direction is just about flawless." Filmmaker Magazine Covers Student Life in 6-week Class
On a weekly basis, six-week student and filmmaker Alix Lambert writes about her experiences taking the September 2011 class. Of one of her teachers, Alan Oxman (Welcome to the Dollhouse, Happiness) she writes "Oxman is a man of enormous patience. He sits with me on and off for the rest of the week. If he can teach me how to edit, he can teach a space alien how to edit." She also discusses her experience workshopping her scene with Rodney Evans (Brother to Brother), the director of the current class project The Happy Sad. Emmy Nominations Include TEC Alum
Dan Rather Reports which airs on Mark Cuban's network, HD Net, was recently nominated for four Emmy awards - the most they're ever received in a single year and the most the network has received. Alum Steven Tyler (May 2006) has been with the program for five years and has worked his way up to his current position as Supervising Editor. One nomination he's particularly proud of is for "Best Editing - Quick Turnaround."
Class Film to Premiere in Theaters this Weekend
The Art of Getting By (previously titled Homework), the project of the May 2010 6-week class, premieres June 17th in theaters. TEC alum and instructor, Mollie Goldstein, edited The Art of Getting By with TEC alum Sophie Corra serving as assistant editor. The film stars Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Emma Roberts (Scream 4) and Rita Wilson (Sleepless in Seattle). Class Films Picked Up by HBO
Two Edit Center films, Hot Coffee (May 2010) and A Matter of Taste (November 2009) have been picked up by HBO and will be included in their critically acclaimed "Summer Series." Hot Coffee was edited by TEC alum Cindy Lee and will premiere June 27th. A Matter of Taste, which was edited by alum Amy Foote, debuts June 13th. A trailer for the Summer Series can be found here.
