2010 SXSW Nominee. Directed by Aaron Katz, winner of the 2015 John Cassavettes Award.
Doug returns home to Portland, Oregon after dropping out of college in Chicago. When his ex-girlfriend Rachel disappears, Doug sets on an investigation with his co-worker, Carlos, as the two men put their love of old detective novels to use. Building on the lyrical style and naturalistic performances of his previous features, Katz offers an idiosyncratic spin on genre conventions. Characterized by deadpan humor and the use of amateur actors, Cold Weather is considered part of the mumblecore movement in independent film associated with the Duplass brothers and Lena Dunham's Tiny Furniture. Cold Weather premiered at Sundance and distributed by IFC.
